Birmingham Creatives Meet-Up

coffee

What started out as a Tweet-Up meeting between a couple of creatives in Birmingham, is evolving into a group of creative who want to build a creative network of peers.

Chris Davis and myself met through twitter and happened to both win a free coffee from O’Henry’s Coffees a couple of weeks ago. We decided to sit down and chat one day while reaping the benefits of our free coffee. Once we started to plan our meeting time, we decided to invite other creatives in town to join us. This sparked a fire and has led us in the direction of starting an informal group of Birmingham Creatives, who can lean on each.

Our goal so far is to have a means of communicating with other creatives in our area to build a support network. This will possibly turn into a email group where you can ask advice, find help with a project, talk about design topics, etc. Then, on occasion, people can meet up for coffee, or lunch.

So if this sounds interesting at all, please join us. If you aren’t interested in joining us for coffee but would like to be in the group, then contact me or leave a comment and we will keep you posted on what we come up with.

Hope to see you there!

this sounds like a group I’d love to be a part of. Unfortunately, I have a speaking engagement that day. But I would love to stay in the loop about the next meeting. Will you be setting up some way to follow the group, such as a facebook page or something?

    Tammy,

Honestly, I think we will set up something as simple as a google group or something similar that people can easily communicate with. Still working out these ideas. Feel free to chime in. :)

    Hi–

Haven’t met you or Chris but I hope to attend. I teach at a nearby university in mass communication program and would like to get acquainted and do some networking with the creative types in related fields.

I’m class on Thursdays until 4:50, but I’m nearby so I will plan to stop by O’Henrys.

  4. Keith Says:

Awesome Sheree! Would love to meet you.

    Sounds like fun.

You might want to specify in the text above that it’s the O’Henry’s at Brookwood Village. (Not everyone will click on the “directions” link.)

    Wade,

Good point. I have made the change. Thanks for noticing that. Are you going to try to join us?

Dr. Henry Bright (original owner) is a nice man. Just yesterday I saw him and he said the O’Henry’s in Brookwood has “the Lexus of coffeemakers.” :) I hope to make this event and take that Lexus for a spin.

Wow! Keith and I are very excited about the response here. Next Thursday should be a lot of fun. Please invite any creative you know.

I have reserved the upstairs for us at O’Henry’s Brookwood so we can have plenty of room to talk. So come get a latte’ and meet us upstairs.

    Chris
